Early Years Network: Feast celebration Wednesday 13th July 1.30 @ Roding- quick message from dan lea

Dear all,

I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the lovely weather, glorious summer!
Attached should be the flyer for our early years network celebration event, please print it off and share with colleagues in your school, remember the network has just enough funds left to cover your needed supply costs so do look to bring a colleague and share the learning.
So far we have date, venue organised, I was thinking that on the day we could have a mini project in the morning with the children, then set up the tents/story dens, story trees and main tent in the back field (weather permitting) bad weather, in the little hall? Then in the afternoon the celebration is dead simple, everyone brings a story and pegs it up on a washing line, each school makes a small display of what they have been up to and the children, artists and practitioners simple mingle, talk and share, nice. At the end of the event everyone gets to take home someone else's story. and of course we should have food, nibbles and drinks.
Hows this sounding?
Please feedback any ideas or suggestions and please do encourage people to come, the project has been a great success and you deserve to have your commitments recognised in your respective schools. On that point may I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and dedication to the project, hopefully this event can be a celebration, a time to enjoy what we have achieved.
best wishes
dan
ps. Eugenia I did put you down as a contact for confirming attendance, is that ok?

Children Co Constructing their own Learning: Fireball XL5

In this project I shared with the children my love of the theme tune to Fireball XL5, we watched an episode, learn the song and then the children were given the rest of the day to construct their own projects. The children created some wonderful pieces of learning ranging from the construction of a rocket and accompanying five sets of space suits to stimulate creative role play, two enlarged maps of the universe, one poem inspired by the song, one percussion composition to accompany the songs lyrics, three space stations created from Lego and a collection of space themed story comics and accompanying puppets. Really great to see what the children can create by themselves when us interfering adults stop hindering their creativity.
